ACT Colombia’s central work is in the Eastern Andean Piedmont and the Colombian Amazon, specifically in the departments of Cauca, Putumayo, Caquetá and Amazonas. Projects are implemented from offices in Bogotá, Florencia (Caquetá) and Mocoa (Putumayo).
The Eastern Andean Piedmont and the Amazon region are considered some of the richest zones of biological diversity on the planet. These regions experience high environmental deterioration and social disorder due to the proliferation of illicit crops, uncontrolled use of natural resources (wood and minerals) and armed conflict.
Both regions are home to a range of indigenous communities that are characterized by their cultural strength and profound knowledge of the natural world, expressed through their traditional medicine.
