Culture and Ethno-education
To help maintain traditional cultures, ACT supports the design of indigenous curricula and the adaptation of infrastructure for indigenous schools, as well as other activities for cultural conservation.
- Technical support for community radio stations provided to the Inga and Koreguaje communities of Caquetá, through which they have been able to disseminate information on subjects including ethnoeducation, sustainable agriculture, and traditional language.
- Development of training workshops on ethnoeducation with the leaders and teachers of the Koreguaje, Siona and Inga communities for the purpose of advancing in the formulation of their own curricula.
- Ninety students and 12 professors of the Yachaicurà Ethnoeducation School of the Inga community receives economic and technical support for the continuation of their own education. The curriculum draws on western school subjects including English and math as well as indigenous program subjects such as traditional medicine, ancestral agriculture, crafts, and native language skills.
- Scholarships provided to Inga leaders of the Caquetá.
