Sustainable Production

ACT helps to ensure  food security for indigenous and peasant communities through the participatory planning of sustainable production projects. Identification of markets and development of surpluses for commercial purposes are the main objectives.

  • A total of 600 families in 38 indigenous reserves have benefited from the productive activities supported. 
  • During this year, 800 traditional gardens have been established and technical assistance has been provided for a total of 440 hectares assisted. 
  • Training workshops have been provided to indigenous and peasant communities with regard to sustainable production systems and farm projects with commercial purposes.    
  • With ACT Colombia’s assistance, rural communities of the buffer zones of the Alto Fragua Indi Wasi National Park have developed agroforestry plots with cocoa, coffee, pineapple, and sugarcane.
  • Seed exchanges have taken place between the Inga communities of Caquetá and the Baja Bota Caucana.
